Image alignment and resizing using PowerPoint

In a previous assignment, you create three images.

Combine those three into a single, perfectly aligned image as shown below:

My advice would be to create the combined image using PowerPoint, which makes it easy to resize and align images exactly. Once you have the PoweerPoint slide, display it full screen and record a screen shot to create the final, composite image.

Post that image on your blog and turn in a printout of the blog post. (If you do this with a partner, put the image on both of your blogs, but only turn in one copy of the composite image).

Experiment with presentation tempo

I recorded the presentation for our topic module on recording presentations at normal speed and with the tempo increased by 15%.

• sped up by 15%

Listen to both versions.

Do you think the faster version would be as effective as the slower one?

Get two friends to watch the presentations -- one at normal speed and one the faster speed. Watch them as they watch the video -- did one pause or replay parts more than the other?

Ask each to summarize the content after they finish watching. Did one do a better job than the other? Which one?

Based on your observations, would you say that one version is better than the other? Which one? Why?

Narrated video of a PowerPoint presentation

You are to make a narrated video of the presentation you prepared for this assignment.

When it is finished, upload it to YouTube.

Print a screen shot of the video on YouTube to turn in.

Focused PowerPoint presentation

This assignment gives you practice with simple, focused presentations.

Pick one concept or point that you learned in a class, and make a short PowerPoint presentation explaining it to a classmate. Don't pick the first topic that pops into your mind – choose a topic that you think is really interesting.

Make it a "Steve Jobs" presentation – keep the slides simple and write a carefully worded script for each one.

The presentation can be a single slide if that is all you need to explain your concept.

Turn in a printout of your presentation, showing the slides and notes.
