This assignment gives you practice creating a Yahoo Group and reinforces the idea of an online community.
A Yahoo Group is a tool to support a community of common interest. The most important step in this assignment is thinking about the community you wish to support. Is it a few friends with a common interest, people taking a class, friends from the gym, you and your brothers and sisters, etc.? (The most successful groups will receive extra credit).
Think carefully about the group you plan to support, then write a short statement of who they are and what their common interest is. Print that out to turn in.
Next create a Yahoo Group for your community by following the three-step process at: http://groups.yahoo.com/start.
When you have completed the setup, you will receive a confirmation email. Print that out to turn in.

Join our Yahoo group
This assignment will familiarize you with Yahoo Groups and start you thinking about the pros and cons of using an Internet service versus running an application in house.

Subscribe: cisdh-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
Unsubscribe: cisdh-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com
List owner: cisdh-owner@yahoogroups.com
Join the group. When you confirm your request to join, you will receive a welcome message by email. Print that message to turn in.
Explore the capabilties and options of the Yahoo Group.

Subscribe to the class email list
The purpose of this assignment is to get you on the class list, and to give you practice with a list server and its commands.
Our class list is named cis275s2020.
To subscribe to the list, send a blank e-mail message (neither a subject nor a message) to:
join-cis275s2020@lists.csudh.edu
Note that there are no spaces in the address.
After you send that message, you will receive a confirmation email. You must reply to that to confirm that you really do want to join the list. You will not have joined the list until you confirm your request.
After that, you will receive an e-mail saying you have subscribed. Print that out and turn it in. (Be sure your name and the assignment number is on it).
The reply to your subscription request should arrive in a few seconds. If it does not, check to be sure it was not moved into a spam folder. If you still can not find the reply, get help from a classmate.
Once you have subscribed and confirmed your subscription, you can post messages to the list by sending email to:
cis275s2020@lists.csudh.edu.
Everyone on the list will get a copy of your message.
